Xtreme Makeover Winner Angela and son Steven

From numerous nominations vying for an Xtreme Makeover for their mom, three finalists were chosen to attend the Gold Carpet Debut to meet the President and Founder of Xtreme Lashes^®, Jo Mousselli, RN. One lucky mom received a late Mother’s Day pampering before her Wedding Day!

Guests walked the gold carpet at the grand opening of the luxurious Xtreme Lashes^® Studio on Market Street in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 6 and 7, of Mother’s Day weekend. However, one guest’s excitement continued even after the gold carpet was rolled up – Steven Tillis beamed as his mother, Angela Tillis, one of three finalists at the event, was selected by Jo Mousselli, President of Xtreme Lashes^®, as the winner of the Xtreme Makeover, provided by Xtreme Lashes Studio, Dolce Bella Lingerie, Woodlands Wellness & Cosmetic Center, Market Street and Stacy Harris Images.

“[My mom] is not only inspirational by definition,” says Steven Tillis. “She is inspirational by acts, commitment, love, and faith. I can think of no better gift than for her to receive a little TLC, so that she feels as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside, helping to make her wedding day as inspirational as possible.”

Xtreme Makeover Finalists

Tillis, Tobi Kosanke, and Terrie Arnett were revealed as finalists at the Gold Carpet Debut ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, May 6, during which Jo Mousselli thanked them for their deserving nominations.

“This was a very difficult decision because all three of these women exemplified the characteristics of an empowered, real woman – one who takes initiative in making her life, and others’, positive and successful, whether it’s at home with her family, in school earning her degree, or as a professional at work,” said Mousselli. “These women deserve to be recognized for their active and constant contribution to others.”

Tillis stood out above the other nominees for her humbling commitment to her children, adopted from foster care and even other relatives. She was a teacher of the deaf and hearing impaired and aimed to give those who had less opportunities in the world a better chance at success. Despite financial strains, illnesses, losing her family’s home, and even infidelity by her husband of 24 years, Tillis remained committed to her children and to her values. After divorcing her husband, she decided to earn her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and, in 2008, she became a Program Specialist for the Deaf Program in HISD.

“While our family may have changed in a monumental way, we reinforced our faith, happiness, and those deep connections that keep us all together and connected,” says her son, Steven. “And after everything that my mom has been through, I can’t do anything except think about how, after five not so good years, my mom has come out of all of it, better than ever.”

Her son is excited to reveal that his mother is now engaged to be married this month, June 2011.
